Mountain leader and PCV driver jobs

Mountain leaders and drivers are one event team. We recruit for both roles together so each event has strong mountain leadership and reliable transport operations.

Mountain leader roles

Guide groups safely, keep timing realistic, and help participants enjoy a memorable day in the hills.

Typical work

  • Group leadership and pace management on mountain terrain.
  • Route, weather, and safety decision-making.
  • Briefings, checkpoint coordination, and incident response.
  • Working closely with drivers and event control.

Useful qualifications

  • Mountain Leader (ML) Summer and/or Winter.
  • First Person On Scene (FPOS) first aid.
  • Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC).
  • Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA).

PCV and minibus driver roles

Keep events moving smoothly between mountains with safe, professional passenger transport.

Typical work

  • Safe passenger transport between event checkpoints.
  • Compliance with driver hours, tacho, and welfare planning.
  • Route timing support for challenge operations teams.
  • Professional communication with participants and leaders.

Useful qualifications

  • Current PCV and/or D1 minibus entitlement.
  • Current Driver CPC where required.
  • Experience on long-distance passenger transport shifts.
  • Strong vehicle checks and fatigue management standards.

Expect practical event-day work with early starts, long travel windows, and mountain weather that can change quickly. It is hands-on, outdoors, and rewarding work for people who stay calm, communicate well, and enjoy supporting groups.

  • Work on established routes with experienced operations support.
