Taking in three classic Surrey hills - Box Hill, Holmbury Hill, and county-top Leith Hill, the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge is a 23-mile (37km) round trip route.
Total walking distance is comparable the Yorkshire Three Peaks, with a third less climbing - on the Surrey Three Peaks total ascent is 1060 metres.
How to take part in the Surrey Three Peaks Challenge?
There are two ways to take on the Surrey Three Peaks. On a guided challenge, you'll have experienced leaders to guide you through the Surrey Hills and keep you on the right paths. Alternatively, you can plan your own challenge with your own group.
Is the Surrey Three Peaks right for you?
Surrey is ideal if you're new to long-distance walking or want a challenge accessible from London. The terrain is gentler than our mountain challenges, making it a good way to build endurance and confidence.
Yorkshire Three Peaks
Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, Ingleborough • 12 hours
Similar distance to Surrey but 50% more ascent in proper mountain terrain. If you completed Surrey comfortably, Yorkshire is the natural next step - still a single-day circular route, but with real peaks in the Dales.
